Who's making it
Meet Austin.
Austin runs Sun Machine Glass here in Tacoma. He's been blowing glass since high school, works in traditional Venetian techniques, and is best known for his bright little glass monsters, which have shown at the Corning Museum of Glass. He's also just a good friend of Field.
Each decanter is formed by hand in the few seconds the glass stays hot enough to work, and every one of those movements shows in the finished piece. Turning molten glass into a decanter takes patience, vision, and a stubborn love of the craft.
These decanters are made to be used, and to look gorgeous while doing so on the table with your people. Pour, pass it around, and with any luck it becomes the one you reach for every time friends come over, and the one they pick up and ask about. We made them in collaboration with Field, after a few rounds of prototypes, and we're so excited to finally share them.
